JP McGrath is a Managing Director in Perella Weinberg Partners’ Advisory business, based in London. Mr. McGrath focuses on advising clients in the Financial Institutions sector.
Mr. McGrath has more than 20 years of investment banking experience assisting a broad range of Financial Services companies on a variety of matters. Selected M&A experience includes advising Lone Star on the disposal of Dollar Financial to Highbridge, the acquisition of Commonwealth by Moneycorp, the sale of Everyday Loans to Non Standard Finance PLC, the sale of Ashcourt Rowan PLC to Towry, the sale of City Index to Gain Capital, the acquisition of IPES on behalf of Silverfleet, the acquisition of Insight by BNY Mellon, the merger of BWD Rensburg with Carr Sheppards, the sale of Rothschild Asset Management, the demerger of Henderson from AMP and the disposal of Colonial Life (UK) to Winterthur. Recent IPO experience includes the IPOs of Clydesdale Bank, Shawbrook Bank and Hastings Insurance.
Prior to joining Perella Weinberg Partners in January of 2018, Mr. McGrath was at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods from 2013 to 2017, where he most recently served as Head of European Investment Banking. Mr. McGrath previously founded the Financial Institutions Group at Close Brothers. Prior to that, Mr. McGrath was a Director at Rothschild. Mr. McGrath began his investment banking career at Samuel Montagu & Co and was previously a commercial barrister.
Mr. McGrath earned an MA in Law from Queens’ College, Cambridge.
